Kate
Burns Ottavino, M. Arch, M.S.
Director, Preservation Technologies Research
Kate Burns Ottavino is the Director of Preservation
Technologies Research at the Center for Architecture and Building
Science Research, as well as the Vice President and Director
of Preservation of the A. Ottavino Corporation.
Ms. Ottavino attended New York University where
she received a Bachelor of Arts. She then continued her studies
at Columbia University where she was awarded a Master of Science
in Historical Preservation and a Master of Architecture. She
was the recipient of a fellowship from the American Association
of University Women and has been awarded a number of grants.
A prominent conservator and lecturer, Ms. Ottavino
has lectured throughout the country on architectural conservation,
theory and practice. She sits on the Board of Directors of the
Fine Arts Federation, the Old Merchant’s House in New York City
and an Preservation Alumni. She is a member of the Womens City
Club of New York City and sits on the Arts and Preservation
Committee. She chairs the Municipal Art Society’s Fellows Committee
on Preservation and Urbanism.
Other organizations with which Ms. Ottavino is
affiliated include the American Institute of Conservation, International
Institute for Conservation, International Council of Monuments
and Sites, Association for Preservation Technology, Friends
of Terra Cotta, National Trust for Historical Preservation,
and the World Monuments Fund. She is the co author of "Substainable
Urban Preservation: Developing a model program for New York
(World Monuments Fund, 1997)

Mary Delano
Research Associate
Mary has worked with the Center on the Preservation
Arts High School project for four years as project coordinator.
She recently replaced Ruth Baker, the Associate Chair of the
Department, and is now responsible for the Center's accounts
and grants management. Prior to coming to NJIT, Mary spent 9
years with the Good Year Tire & Rubber Company where she
managed all aspects of a customer service call center. Mary
is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Public Administration
at Rutgers University.
